Trash & Stash Owner Featured in New Redfin Blog About Downsizing
Fort Mill, SC (August 15, 2022) – National real estate giant, Redfin has called on Trash & Stash founder and owner Cameron Ungar’s expertise for a recently-published longform blog about downsizing and simplifying your life.
Ungar, who founded the Fort Mill- based junk removal business in 2021, is one of several expert voices chosen by Redfin to share advice on how to downsize your belongings.
In the blog, written by Julia Weaver, Trash & Stash’s Ungar suggests that decluttering is an act of conservation. “When you make the decision to downsize via donation, these items can have a second life while they still have value,” he says in the article. “This keeps items out of the landfill, puts them in the hands of people who can use them and often raises money for a worthy cause.”
Check out the rest of what Ungar, and others, have to say in “Toss or Keep? How to Downsize Your Belongings and Simplify Your Life | Redfin.”
In the article Weaver writes that decluttering has many benefits, including the reduction of stress, better sleep patterns and boosted productivity. “The hardest part, however, is knowing how to downsize your belongings without allowing the dreaded guilt to derail your efforts,” she writes.
Ungar was asked by Redfin to provide his best tips on downsizing and offer insight on how to get over the regret that is sometimes associated with parting with possessions.
Decluttering can be stressful. That was probably the biggest surprise getting into this business... understanding how emotional the work is. People are managing feelings of overwhelm, sentimentality, loss, fear, anxiety and guilt. Often the results of junk removal though, are the counter emotions like relief, hope and optimism.

“Being called on to serve as a subject matter expert for such a respected real estate brand as Redfin is extremely gratifying, and participating in this exercise was a no-brainer,” he said. “Trash & Stash has often turned to subject matter experts in various fields to help flesh out our own blogs with facts and details that our readers can rely on, so it was nice to have the tables turned and impart some of the wisdom that I’ve gained from working as a small business owner in the junk removal industry. I’ve learned from listening to our customers’ needs.”
